A joint effort, a great atmosphere, and a surprisingly large amount of waste

The initiative was not just about environmental protection, but also about the power of the community.

Environmental protection is not merely an important consideration in our daily work; it must also be reflected in our actions, as it forms the foundation of our professional credibility.

With this in mind, the team at Control Union participated this year in the #TeSzedd! – Volunteering for a Clean Hungary initiative, through which we cleaned up the area surrounding our office. This charitable effort provided an opportunity for us to work together toward a more livable and orderly environment, while also allowing our team to reveal a new side of itself.

A surprising amount and variety of waste

During our collaborative effort, it soon became clear that there was plenty to be done. Both the volume and the variety of the waste collected were surprising; we encountered a wide range of materials and types of refuse, which clearly illustrated the many different forms in which improperly managed waste can appear in our environment.

The cleanup was not merely physical labor; it also provided a significant learning experience. In our daily lives, the presence of waste often becomes something we take for granted—especially when we regularly travel along the same routes. However, when we actively participate in cleaning up streets and public spaces, we begin to see our surroundings in a completely different light. The amount of waste we gathered with our own hands underscored the scale of the problem and served as a reminder that each of us can contribute to bringing about change.

Environmental protection and recycling – our shared cause

As an international certification body, Control Union supports businesses across various sectors in meeting standards, requirements, and sustainability expectations. Our activities include certification related to recycling; therefore, the causes of responsible waste management and the conscious use of resources are particularly close to our hearts.

Waste collection is an important step toward a cleaner environment, but the ultimate goal goes beyond that. Properly separated and managed waste can, in part, be recycled—re-entering the economic cycle as secondary raw material. This contributes to the conservation of natural resources, reduces the demand for primary raw materials, and strengthens the circular economy.

However, recycling can only function effectively if the proper collection, sorting, and treatment of waste are ensured. That is why it is essential not merely to talk about sustainability, but to actively seek opportunities in our daily lives to contribute to the protection of our environment.

Participating in the “TeSzedd!” (Pick It Up!) volunteer initiative was a small yet significant step for us along this path. We believe that fostering an environmentally conscious mindset, making responsible decisions, and taking collective action can truly deliver meaningful results.

Teamwork that extends beyond the workday

Beyond its environmental objectives, the event also offered a fantastic community experience. The shared tasks, collaborative work, and positive atmosphere turned the program into a true team-building exercise. Stepping outside the familiar workplace environment allowed us to work together in a different setting, all while striving toward a common goal that mattered to everyone.
